Causes of Basement Leaks & Flooding in Metro Atlanta & Nearby Areas in GA

The ground around your foundation absorbs rainwater and becomes wet. The water exerts pressure on the exterior of the basement walls, eventually finding its way in, leading to leaks. Clogged drain pipes are incapable of protecting your basement from this effect. Getting an expert to assess your situation and provide a solution is essential to prevent further structural damage and health hazards related to humidity.

Natural disasters such as hurricanes, as well as those caused by people, such as runoff from neighboring construction sites, can all cause your basement to flood. Protecting your home with an effective drainage system and a good quality sump pump will mitigate risks of basement damage.

French Drains
(the old-fashioned solution)

The French Drain has been the standard solution for groundwater control in foundations and basements for over 100 years. Despite being a decent water drainage solution, they tend to become clogged over time due to silt being dragged into the pipes by the water flow. To fix them, the foundation must be dug up all the way to the footing, which is a major annoyance.

Nowadays, when building a house or implementing draining solutions to an already built one, modern alternatives to the french drain are always preferred.

Interior Perimeter Drainage Systems in Atlanta & Surrounding Areas

Harris Waterproofing offers a superior alternative to the outdated French drain. Our drainage system, installed along the perimeter of your basement’s interior, features valves that can be opened or closed remotely for maintenance purposes, without compromising its integrity in any way. It also remains accessible even after years of use – unlike more traditional methods which become clogged over time.

We have two types of systems available depending on what you want improved about your home’s foundation and to achieve the Level 2 Healthy Basement Certificate which is a warranty for your system.
